Best Tavern in Santa Barbara
Cold
Spring Tavern is a unique place with a lot of atmosphere
and history. It is a very popular place to visit in Santa Barbara.
Over one hundred years ago dusty stagecoaches stopped at the "Cold
Spring" relay station to change horses and add two more in
order to get over the mountain. The stop also allowed the passengers
to enjoy one of the most delicious meals in the "old west."
Today it is still a "rest stop" only the passengers arrive
in more modern coaches. The food, the refreshments, and the entertainment
are still some of the best in California.
At night Cold Spring is pure magic! Lamp-lit dining in the rustic
setting around one of the four stone fireplaces stirs the romantic
soul and makes for an unforgettable evening.
Cold Spring has the most pure water in the county. It has 52 springs
on the property. A story goes that the owner put up the sign "Cold
Spring Tavern Has the Purest Water in the Area," but the statement
was doubted.
When the water was tested, it was proven to be true. Later, the
doubter stated, "Sorry, I was wrong. You can put that sign
back up."
On Sundays in the afternoon you can find a lot of fun going on
at Cold Spring. Tri-tip steak sandwiches are served directly off
the barbeque.
While
you are enjoying the good food and refreshments, there is live music
on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is a good place for fun and entertainment.
If you want a quieter, romantic dinner, we suggest going on any
evening during the week or Saturday.
Nothing like a delicious dinner by the fireplace in a warm, friendly
atmosphere. Cold Spring is open every day except Christmas day.
Audrey Ovington, the owner, has created a fine menu with good recipes
for Cold Spring. People always come back for the delicious dishes.
The tavern has many friends and is always making more..
